Please tell me about the system requirement for Femtet®.

Femtet® runs in the following environments.

The 32-bit(x86) system
Operating System Windows 10 / Windows 8.1 / 8 / 7
CPU Intel IA32 (Pentium, Xeon, Core, Celeron), AMD (Athlon, Opteron, Turion) Based Processor Unit
Not operational on Intel Itanium and Itanium2.
Required Memory Minimum: 512MB, Recommended: 1GB
HD Minimum: 1GB, Recommended: 10GB
Graphic Screen resolution: over 1024x768, Color: over 16 bits (65000 colors)
Other Excel2000 or newer is required for macro functions.
The 64-bit(x64) system

Are all 7 solvers included in a license of Femtet® Basic?
A
Yes, they are. Furthermore, the solid modeler, the mesher and the post processor are also included in a license of Femtet® Basic.

Do we have to pay the support fee in addition to the license fee?
A
No, you don't. The support fee is included in the license fee of Femtet® Basic.

Are there any differences between the free trial version and the paid license version?
A
No, there aren't any. You just try out the packages of your choice for 2 months before you purchase them for a 1-year license. You may purchase only Femtet® Basic after the trial.

I am a beginner of CAE software. Will I be able to master Femtet® easily?
A
Yes, you will. Femtet® comes with extensive tutorials and examples.

An error occurs during the installation. I cannot install Femtet®.
A
Please try the installation as Administrator. If the error persists, please contact the support center with the error message number and description.

What is the origin of the name, Femtet®?

It is the combination of FEM (Finite Element Method) and TETrahedron (Mesh shape).

Can I buy Femet® as an individual?
A
Sorry, but you can't. Femtet® is available only to those who belong to incorporated companies, academic institutions or research institutes.

Q
Is Femtet® operational on a PC which is not connected to Internet?
A
Yes, it is, but you need to go through an online PC to install and activate Femtet®.
First, download the installation package on an online PC. Then copy and install it onto the offline PC. You need to go through the online PC to send/receive the licensing c2v/v2c files, too.

Q
I cannot install the license update tool, RusTool.
A
It is suspected that Sentinel HASP/LDK - Command Line Run-time Installer is not installed properly. Please download the latest version from here and install it.
Please follow the instructions below for the installation:
  • ·Download the zip file. Unzip it and find the "hadpdinst.exe" file.
  • ·Open the "DOS prompt" on Windows.
  • ·Drag and drop the "haspdinst.exe" onto the "DOS prompt".
  • ·Add an argument "-i", and press the [Enter] key.
    $> haspdinst.exe -iDOS prompt
The message "Operation successfully completed." will appear. Click [OK].
You should be able to install "RusTool" now.

Q
Which PC/server should I install the license on?
A
There are 3 ways of license usage as explained below. The license is versatile but not transferrable. Please decide which PC/server to be licensed carefully.

Case 1. Stand-alone use
Both Femtet and the license are installed and activated on a single PC.
It is a licensed work PC, and Femtet is operational on it.

Case 2. Remote desktop use
You can run Femtet with a remote PC by accessing a licensed work PC via network.

Case 3. Floating use
Femtet is installed on work PCs while the license is installed and activated on a server.
You can run Femtet on as many work PCs as desired, but up to the number of purchased licenses at a time, off the licensed server via network. server

FAQs about operations

Q
Is it possible to import external CAD data to Femtet®?
A
Yes. Parasolid data(.x_t) and Autocad data(.dxf) are importable with Femtet® Basic.
To import other data formats, "CAD Data Translator", an optional license package, is required.

Is it possible to edit imported CAD data in Femtet®?
A
Yes. You can edit the data or the model with regular modeling commands.

Do you have any application examples simulated by Femtet®?
A
Yes, we do. There are many examples included in Femtet®'s Help. You will find some in Application Showcase as well.

How can I adjust the mesh size partially?
A
You might want to set finer meshes at "busy area". Femtet® has the "adaptive meshing" function which automatically adjusts the mesh size depending on the model's shape and structure. You can also set the mesh size manually.

Can Femtet® handle 2D and axially symmetric analysis spaces?
A
Yes. All the solvers support 2D and axially symmetric analysis spaces as well as 3D.

Is a material database available?
A
Yes. Femtet® has a material database covering more than 100 materials. You can register your own materials onto the database, too.

I want to automate the analysis process.
A
Femtet® has the parametric analysis function. The shape of the model, the material properties and the boundary conditions can be changed parametrically.
Furthermore, the process from building a model to postprocessing can be automated with the macro functions (about macro functions).
